IFFO presents films by, about, and for women
Along with the Canadian Film Institute’s (CFI) newest event, the International Film Festival of Ottawa (IFFO), beginning in 2020, “The Female Gaze” was created to expand IFFO into year-round programming highlighting underrepresented filmmakers.
Created by CFI Festivals Manager and IFFO programmer Tish Black, this program brings the focus to women not just behind the camera, but women on-screen and in the audience. The film and thematic talk of each screening explores, with the audience, the personal and cultural significance of films created by women, about women, and for women. (Once more for effect: women!)
