CBC Ottawa’s Creator Network

Article: Creator Network seeks young storytellers with a passion for making videos

Do you love making videos and online content? Do you have a unique and compelling visual story to tell?

CBC Ottawa's Creator Network is looking for young digital storytellers from diverse backgrounds to produce original video content to air on CBC. They want creators to tell stories through their own lens, and they will license and pay for the content.

Digital Arts Resource Centre

DARC (formerly SAW Video) is a not-for-profit, fully cycle media art center that supports artists through every stage of their career with equipment, training, mentorship, programming, grants, and residencies.

DARC's extensive inventory of more than 300 pieces of equipment and state-of-the-art facilities allows artists to grow their practice and advance their careers.

Workshops are offered year-round in-person and online and cover a wide range of topics from video editing and filmmaking basics, to more experimental courses like Making Music for Live Coding and History of Chinese Cinema. Additionally, the online member portal is populated with on-demand workshops for artists to take at their own pace.

DARC also offers grants and residencies like the Media Art Production Fund, the Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance, and the Expanded Practice Residency. Members have access to monthly grant-writing office hours, and technical support is available every Wednesday.

Whether you’re learning with DARC, using their equipment or facilities or exhibiting in their space you can do it all with DARC.

Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival

Digi60 is a not-for-profit grassroots filmmakers’ festival with almost 20 years of history in the Ottawa area, creating opportunities for new and emerging filmmakers to screen their work in a supportive, constructive peer environment while supporting their growth and professional development as filmmakers through workshops, panels and mentorships.


Directors’ Guild of Canada in Ontario

The Directors Guild of Canada Ontario (DGC Ontario) is a provincial labour organization representing more than 3,000 key creative and logistical personnel working in the screen-based industries in the areas of direction, assistant direction, design, production management, locations, accounting and post production.
