Commitment Hasan is the second film of acclaimed filmmaker Semi Kaplanoğlu’s “Commitment” trilogy. A story of conflicting internal forces, Hasan is dedicated to farming the land inherited from his father. When a new power pole threatens his livelihood, he will make every effort to thwart the project and secure his interests, that is until he and his wife are selected to go on the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca. The film follows Hasan’s attempts to cleanse his past deceits and mistakes before his voyage and soul-search. 

Beautiful landscapes, textures, and colours are accompanied by the sounds of this windswept region. The film’s pace is one that urges viewers to follow Hasan’s internal reflections and evaluate these human conflicts.

Commitment Hasan was selected as part of the Un Certain Regard section at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
