Selected for the ACID section of Cannes Film Festival, Nathan Nicholovitch’s timely, insightful, and incendiary drama confronts contemporary social issues through the prism of high school students who have witnessed injustice and are now ready to speak out. When Chiara, a high school student accused of tagging an anti-government slogan on a wall of the school, is arrested and unexpectedly dies in custody, her classmates are shocked and are determined to speak out. Using a documentary style to heighten the immediacy of his subject and the experiences of his characters, Nicholovitch’s film offers a raw, penetrating look at some of the social justice challenges faced by French youth right now.  Intense and urgent, The Seeds We Sow is a moving, politically charged generational drama revolving around an inspiring group of brave young people facing a reality in France that they want to transform. These are definitely rebels with a cause.

Lorsque Chiara, une étudiante du secondaire accusée d’avoir écrit des slogans anti-gouvernementaux sur un mur de l’école, est arrêtée et meurt sans qu’on s’y attende en détention, ses camarades de classe sont sous le choc et déterminés à s’exprimer. En se servant du style documentaire pour mettre en lumière l’immédiateté de son sujet et les expériences de ses personnages, le film de Nicholovitch offre un regard cru et pénétrant sur certains des défis de justice sociale auxquels est confrontée la jeunesse française en ce moment. Intense et urgent, Les graines que l’on sème est un drame générationnel émouvant et très politique qui porte sur un groupe inspirant de braves jeunes gens faisant face à une réalité en France qu’ils veulent transformer. Ces rebelles ont réellement une cause à défendre.
